IPO search in Google

You may see in my last article how I showed the obvious fact that events news drive searches in google and other search engines like Bing or DuckDuckGO. I used Techcrunch as an example in this past article and in this one but it is true for all kinds of news boards.

IPO are events and they also impact search trends. In this short-form post, I will highlight this event driven online search with the IPO of Roblox.

Roblox is is a free-to-play game and developer platform.

They planned some days ago to go public by listing on the New York stock exchange with an IPO. This is an investment event and investors always go hunting for more information before investing. What is the best place for hunting information about something? Search engines.

In this case, we focus on Google search but the same can be said for other search engines.

Here is the chart for the trend of the keyword “Roblox IPO”

You can clearly see the timeframe where the trend of this keyword was high due to the news of Roblox going public. Major startup specialized and investment news board covered this event with articles.

On January 7, 2021, TechCrunch titled «Roblox raises at $29.5 billion valuations, readies for direct listing »

On November 19, 2020, the filing of this IPO was already reported by TechCrunch with the title “Roblox files to go public

So to say that this event was known months before it happened so was the keyword trend also.

I chose TechCrunch but events like that are covered by all majors and specialized news boards like Bloomberg.

What would you do if you were trying to market a product or a service to investors?

Like I said to you in my last title news drive search. they always do. This is true for this kind of investment event.

Go invest or Go market your product to investors with this.
