Why Yelp isn’t a marketplace?

Yelp helps consumers get and make reviews of restaurants offers by doing that yelp connect restaurants to consumers because consumers tend to look for reviews of restaurants before making their choices. Unlike testable, Yelp doesn’t handle the transaction between customers and restaurants. These transactions happen off-platform and that’s what makes that yelp isn’t a marketplace. I like to say that connections + transaction = marketplace but like my teacher said if trust is added in each side of the equation it will for sure has word of mouth and go viral. Because it is trustworthy it will be worth talking about and will brings more connections. Owning a big address book cannot make you a successful marketplace owner because of this.
