More than ten years ago, I discovered the works of the professor Andrew TanenBaum of the university of Amsterdam. Tanenbaum’s main topic is Operating Systems and I learnt a lot from his work. I discovered the lacks of modern operating systems that we are all using now. He architecture a micro kernel operating System named Minix.. Minix is highly reliable and is architectured for faults tolerance with a layering that makes it more reliable than today operating system. I am still confused about why it’s not still implemented by companies and … For the Financial Markets Operating System that I am developing Minix is for sure a perfect match and benchmark. Time is for Domain centric operating system. Why Are we stick with Windows, Mac Os and linux distributions ? Why airliners don’t have their own operating systems ? Why not Banks? Why not hedge Funds ? Why not custom domain oriented operating Systems? We must break the OS monopole.
